Air Chief Marshal Sir William Elliot was born on 3 June 1896.2 He was the son of Gilbert John Elliot.3 He married Elizabeth Rosemary Alice Chancellor, daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir John Robert Chancellor and Mary Elisabeth Howard Thompson, on 18 May 1931.3 He died on 27 June 1971 at age 75.2
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.) and bar.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.)1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Air Chief Marshal in the Royal Air Force.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)3 He lived at Stourpaine House, Dorset, EnglandG.1 He lived at 30A Hill Street, London, EnglandG.1
