     Commander Frederick Elton was born on 3 May 1854.² He was the son of Frederick Bayard Elton and Caroline Elizabeth d‘Alberdyhill, Baroness d’Alberdyhill.² He married Ernestine White, daughter of Ernest White, on 29 July 1893.² He died on 2 November 1922 at age 68.²
     He fought in the South African War in 1879.¹ He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.² He was awarded the Medal for saving life at sea.¹ He lived at Whitestaunton Manor, Somerset, England^G.¹

     Major Bruce Middleton Hope Shand was born on 22 January 1917.² He was the son of Philip Morton Shand and Edith Marguerite Harrington.^1,3 He married Hon. Rosalind Maud Cubitt, daughter of Roland Calvert Cubitt, 3rd Baron Ashcombe and Sonia Rosemary Keppel, on 2 January 1946.¹ He died on 11 June 2006 at age 89.²
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.² He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.² He was commissioned in 1937 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, in the service of the 12th Royal Lancers.² He fought in the Second World War, where h was wounded, and became a POW in 1942.² He gained the rank of Major in 1942 in the 12th Royal Lancers.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1942 and bar.¹ He retired from the military in 1947.² He was Joint Master of the Foxhunds for Southdown between 1956 and 1975.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Sussex in 1962.² He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex between 1974 and 1992.¹

     Hon. Rosalind Maud Cubitt was born on 11 August 1921.¹ She was the daughter of Roland Calvert Cubitt, 3rd Baron Ashcombe and Sonia Rosemary Keppel.¹ She married Major Bruce Middleton Hope Shand, son of Philip Morton Shand and Edith Marguerite Harrington, on 2 January 1946.¹ She died on 14 July 1994 at age 72 at Sussex, England^G, from osteoporosis.^1,4
     Her married name became Shand.

     Sonia Annabel Shand was born on 2 February 1949.¹ She is the daughter of Major Bruce Middleton Hope Shand and Hon. Rosalind Maud Cubitt.¹ She married Simon John Elliot, son of Air Chief Marshal Sir William Elliot and Elizabeth Rosemary Alice Chancellor, on 27 April 1972.¹
     Sonia Annabel Shand usually went by her middle name of Annabel.¹ From 27 April 1972, her married name became Elliot.

     Mark Roland Shand was born on 28 June 1951.¹ He was the son of Major Bruce Middleton Hope Shand and Hon. Rosalind Maud Cubitt.¹ He married Clio Goldsmith, daughter of Edward René David Goldsmith and Gillian Marion Pretty, in 1990.¹ He and Clio Goldsmith were divorced in 2009.² He died on 23 April 2014 at age 62.²
     He was educated at Milton Abbey School, England^G.¹ He wrote the book Travels on My Elephant, published 1991.¹

     Philip Morton Shand was born on 21 January 1888 at Kensington, London, England^G.² He was the son of Alexander Faulkner Shand and Augusta Mary Coates.² He married, firstly, Edith Marguerite Harrington, daughter of George Woods Harrington and Alice Edith Stillman, on 22 April 1916 at St. Peter’s Church, Hammersmith, London, England^G.² He and Edith Marguerite Harrington were divorced in 1920.² He married, secondly, Sybil Mary Sissons after 1920.³ He died on 30 April 1960 at age 72 at Lyon, France^G.²
     He was an author and architect.² He lived at 9 Norland Square, London, England^G.¹

     Lilias Mary Napier was born on 25 July 1892 at India^G.² She was the daughter of Brig.-Gen. Henry Edward Napier and Mary Ada Stewart.¹

     Louisa Elizabeth Johnstone was born on 15 December 1960.¹ She is the daughter of Charles Napier Carruthers Johnstone and Patricia Mary Elmes.¹

     Patricia Mary Elmes married Charles Napier Carruthers Johnstone, son of Harmood Victor Carruthers Johnstone and Hester Caroline Napier, in 1958.¹
     From 1958, her married name became Johnstone.¹
