Francis Fane, 1st Earl of Westmorland1

Francis Fane, 1st Earl of Westmorland was born in February 1579/80.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Fane and Mary Neville, Baroness le Despenser.3 He married Mary Mildmay, daughter of Sir Anthony Mildmay and Grace Sherington, circa 15 February 1598/99.1 He died on 23 March 1628 at age 48.1
He was educated at Queens’ College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kent in 1601.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1603.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Maidstone between 1604 and 1611.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Maidstone in 1614.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Maidstone between 1620 and 1622.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Peterborough in 1624.1 He was created 1st Baron Burghersh, co. Sussex [England] on 29 December 1624.1 He was created 1st Earl of Westmorland [England] on 29 December 1624.3 He succeeded as the 4th Lord le Despenser [E., 1314] on 28 June 1626.1
