George Neville, 3rd Lord Abergavenny1

George Neville, 3rd Lord Abergavenny was born circa 1469. He was the son of George Neville, 2nd Lord Abergavenny and Margaret Fenne.1 He married, firstly, Lady Joan FitzAlan, daughter of Thomas FitzAlan, 10th/17th Earl of Arundel and Lady Margaret Woodville, before 1494.3 He married, secondly, Margaret Brent, daughter of William Brent and Anne Rosmoderes, before 21 December 1495.3,4 He married, thirdly, Lady Mary Stafford, daughter of Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham and Lady Eleanor Percy, circa June 1519.3 He married, fourthly, Mary Brooke after 1520.3 He died circa 1535. He was buried at Birling, Kent, EnglandG, although his heart was buried at Mereworth.3 His will was proven (by probate) on 24 January 1535/36.3
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 4 July 1483.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Abergavenny [E., 1450] on 20 September 1492.1 He fought in the Battle of Blackheath on 17 June 1497, against the Cornish Rebels.1 He held the office of Constable of Dover Castle.1 He held the office of Chief Larderer at the coronation of King Henry VIII in 1509.5 On 18 December 1512 King Henry VIII granted him the castle and lands of Abergavenny.1 He held the office of Warden of the Cinque Ports in 1513.1,5 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) on 23 April 1513.1 He held the office of Keeper of Ashdown Forest in 1515.5 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1516.1 From 1521 to 1522 he was imprisoned on suspicion of conspiring with his father-in-law, the Duke of Buckingham. He held the office of Chief Larderer at the coronation of Anne Boleyn in 1533.5 His last will was dated 4 June 1535.

He was admitted to Middle temple before 1500 entitled to practise as a barrister.3 He was Keeper of the Great Wardrobe between 1506 and 1543.3 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 23 June 1509.1,2 He fought in the Siege of Terrouenne in 1513.1 He was appointed Knight Banneret in 1513.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire in 1526.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) circa February 1525/26.3 In 1529 he was granted monastic lands adjacent to Stanwell.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Buckinghamshire in 1529.3 He succeeded as the 1st Lord Windsor [England by writ] in 1529.1 In 1542 he was forced by King Henry VII to surrender the manor of Stanwell which his family had held since 1086.3 He lived at Stanwell, Surrey, EnglandG.1
