Lt.-Gen. Sir Robert Rich, 5th Bt.1 
Lt.-Gen. Sir Robert Rich, 5th Bt. was born in 1711.1,2 He was the son of Field Marshal Sir Robert Rich, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Griffith.1 He married, firstly, Mary Ludlow, daughter of Peter Ludlow, in 1752.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Bell, daughter of Richard Bell, on 20 September 1771.3 He died on 19 May 1785 at Bath, Somerset, England.1
He fought in the Battle of Culloden in April 1746, where he lost his right arm.2 He was Colonel of the King’s Own Royal Regiment between 1749 and 1756. He held the office of Governor of Londonderry and Culmore in 1756.1 He held the office of Governor of Culmore Fort between 24 April 1756 and 1774.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1758. He fought in the Siege of Minorca. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1760. He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Rich, of London [E., 1676] on 1 February 1768.4
