Field Marshal Sir Robert Rich, 4th Bt. 
Field Marshal Sir Robert Rich, 4th Bt. was born on 3 July 1685. He was the son of Sir Robert Rich, 2nd Bt. and Mary Rich.2 He married Elizabeth Griffith, daughter of Colonel Edward Griffith, on 28 September 1714.1 He died on 1 February 1768 at age 82.
He held the office of Page of Honour to King William III between 1700 and August 1702.3 He was commissioned in June 1700 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the 1st Foot Guards.3 He gained the rank of Captain in August 1704 in the 24th Foot.3 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Rich, of London [E., 1676] circa 16 October 1706.4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in March 1708 in the 1st Foot Guards.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in February 1710 in the Regiment of Foot.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dunwich between 1715 and 1722.3 He held the office of Groom of the Bedchamber to the Prince of Wales between March 1718 and 1759.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in November 1722 in the 13th Dragoon Guards.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bere Alston from 4 February 1724 to 1727.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in September 1725 in the 8th Dragoon Guards.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Ives between 1727 and 1741.3 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in March 1727.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in January 1731 in the 6th Dragoon Guards.3 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1735.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in May 1735 in the 4th Dragoon Guards.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Government in 1739.3 He gained the rank of General in 1745.3 He gained the rank of Field Marshal in 1757.3
