He was given the name of Rupert Clement George Carrington at birth.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards.1 He fought in the Zulu Wars in 1879.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1880 and 1885.1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Buckinghamshire.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.1 He was commanding officer of the 3rd New South Wales Imperial Bushmen between 1901 and 1902.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Carrington of Upton, co. Notts [G.B., 1797] on 13 June 1928.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Carrington of Bulcot Lodge [I., 1796] on 13 June 1928.1
