John Dalzell1

He gained the rank of Major in 1798 in the Royal Marines, aged three, so presumably via a purhcase.1 In 1808 he would have been the 8th Earl of Carnwath, but for his great-grandfather’s attainder.1 He fought in the War of 1812.1
