(Unionist) for South Dorset between 1922 and 1929.2 He was created 1st Baron Alvingham, of Woodfold, co. Palatine of Lancaster [U.K.] on 10 July 1929.2

Robert Armstrong Yerburgh1 
He was educated at University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1880 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Chester between 1886 and 1906.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, Cheshire Regiment.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kirkcudbright.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lancashire.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Chester between 1910 and 1916.2 Although royal approval had ben given to ennoble him, he died before latters patent were issued.2 He lived at Woodfold Park, Blackburn, Caythorpe Court, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.1
