Sir George Cholmley, 7th Bt.1 
He was given the name of George Strickland at birth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire between 1831 and 1841.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Strickland, of Boynton, co. York [E., 1641] on 8 January 1834.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Preston between 1841 and 1867.2 On 17 March 1865 his name was legally changed to George Cholmley by Royal Licence.1
