     Charles Henry Pearson Gifford was the son of Thomas Johnstone Carlyle Gifford.¹ He married Margaret Laetitia Lyell, daughter of Major Hon. Charles Henry Lyell and Rosalind Margaret Watney, on 6 June 1944.¹ He died in 1993.¹

     Rosalind Margaret Watney was the daughter of Vernon James Watney and Lady Gwendolen Margaret Wallop.^2,1 She married Major Hon. Charles Henry Lyell, son of Leonard Lyell, 1st Baron Lyell and Mary Stirling, on 18 May 1911.¹ She died on 22 May 1957.
     Her married name became Lyell. She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1918.¹ She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the County of London.¹

     Leonard Lyell, 1st Baron Lyell was born on 21 October 1850.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Henry Lyell and Katherine Murray Horner.² He married Mary Stirling, daughter of Reverend John Mayne Stirling and Rosetta Cheyne, on 4 July 1874.¹ He died on 18 September 1926 at age 75.¹
     He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Orkney and Shetland between 1885 and 1900.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He was created 1st Baronet Lyell, of Kinnordy, co. Forfar [U.K.] on 24 January 1894.¹ He was created 1st Baron Lyell, of Kinnordy, co. Forfar [U.K., 1914] on 4 July 1914.¹

     Mary Stirling was the daughter of Reverend John Mayne Stirling and Rosetta Cheyne.^1,2 She married Leonard Lyell, 1st Baron Lyell, son of Lt.-Col. Henry Lyell and Katherine Murray Horner, on 4 July 1874.² She died on 24 February 1929.²
     Her married name became Lyell. After her marriage, Mary Stirling was styled as Baroness Lyell on 4 July 1914.

     Reginald Saumarez de Havilland was born circa 1861 at Paignton, Devon, England.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. James de Havilland and Louisa Magdalene Atkinson.¹ He married Mary M. L. Harford in 1920 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.¹ He died in 1921.¹

     Rosetta Cheyne was the daughter of Captain George Cheyne and Jane Hughes.¹ She married Reverend John Mayne Stirling, son of John Stirling and Elizabeth Willing.¹
     Her married name became Stirling.¹

     Captain George Cheyne gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.²

     Major Hon. Michael Victor Brodrick was born on 25 February 1920.¹ He was the son of William St. John Freemantle Brodrick, 1st Earl of Midleton and Madeline Cecilia Carlyle Stanley.¹ He died on 10 September 1943 at age 23 at Salerno, Italy^G, killed in action.^1,2
     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.¹

     Osma Mary Dorothy Stanley was born in 1877.¹ She was the daughter of Colonel Hon. John Constantine Stanley and Susan Mary Elizabeth Stewart-Mackenzie.¹ She married Augustus Henry Eden Allhusen, son of Henry Christian Allhusen, on 21 July 1896.¹ She died on 6 October 1965.¹
     Her married name became Allhusen.
