     Arthur Balfour, 1st Baron Riverdale was born on 9 January 1873.¹ He was the son of Herbert Balfour.² He married Frances Josephine Keighley Bingham, daughter of Charles Henry Bingham and Josephine Keighley, on 19 October 1899.¹ He died on 7 July 1957 at age 84.¹
     He was educated at Ashville College, Harrogate, Yorkshire, North Riding, England.¹ He was Vice-Consul for Denmark between 1899 and 1947.¹ He was Consul for Belgium between 1915 and 1947.¹ He was chairman of C Meadows and Company and High Speed Steel Alloys.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1923.¹ He was chairman of the Committee on Industry and Trade in 1924.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Balfour [U.K.] on 26 June 1929.¹ He was chairman of UK Trade Mission to Egypt in 1931.¹ He was created 1st Baron Riverdale, of Sheffield, co. York [U.K.] on 27 June 1935.² He was chairman of Fire Brigades Committee in 1936.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1942.¹ He was chairman and managing director of Arthur Balfour, steel manufacturers.¹

     Hon. Evelyn Hope Balfour was born on 6 April 1909.² She was the daughter of Arthur Balfour, 1st Baron Riverdale and Frances Josephine Keighley Bingham.² She married, firstly, G/Capt. Eustace Jack Linton Hope, son of Major Linton Hope, on 12 April 1930.² She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. John Claude Thurlow Rivett-Carnac, son of John Thurlow Rivett-Carnac and Edith Emily Brownlow, on 6 June 1953.¹ She died on 26 April 1967 at age 58.¹
     From 12 April 1930, her married name became Hope.² From 6 June 1953, her married name became Rivett-Carnac.

     John Charles Malcolm Rivett-Carnac was born on 6 June 1955.¹ He is the son of Lt.-Col. John Claude Thurlow Rivett-Carnac and Hon. Evelyn Hope Balfour.² He married Carol Ann Hedley on 30 April 1984.¹
     John Charles Malcolm Rivett-Carnac usually went by his middle name of Malcolm.¹ He lived in 2003 at 27 Pilgrim’s Lane, Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire, England.¹

     Carol Ann Hedley married John Charles Malcolm Rivett-Carnac, son of Lt.-Col. John Claude Thurlow Rivett-Carnac and Hon. Evelyn Hope Balfour, on 30 April 1984.¹
     From 30 April 1984, her married name became Rivett-Carnac.

     Percy Kenneth Rivett-Carnac was born on 3 May 1890.¹ He was the son of John Thurlow Rivett-Carnac and Edith Emily Brownlow.² He died on 22 March 1932 at age 41, unmarried.¹
     He fought in the First World War, in Egypt, Persian Gulf and East Africa.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Indiam Army.¹

     Herbert Gordon Rivett-Carnac was born on 15 February 1892.¹ He was the son of John Thurlow Rivett-Carnac and Edith Emily Brownlow.² He married Cushla Margarette Pottinger, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Southey Pottinger, on 16 June 1925.¹ He died on 6 July 1962 at age 70.¹
     He was educated at Bradfield College, Reading, Berkshire, England.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army (Political Department.)¹ He was Assistant Political Officer for Amara, Mesopotamia.¹

     Lt.-Col. Robert Southey Pottinger is the son of Lt.-Col. Brabazon Henry Pottinger.
     He was Resident of Kolhapur.¹
