Charles Moore, 1st Marquess of Drogheda was born on 29 June 1730.1 He was the son of Edward Moore, 5th Earl of Drogheda and Lady Sarah Ponsonby.3 He married Lady Anne Seymour-Conway, daughter of Francis Seymour-Conway, 1st Marquess of Hertford and Lady Isabella Fitzroy, on 15 February 1766.1 He died on 22 December 1822 at age 92.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Canice [Ireland] between 1756 and 1758.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baron Moore of Mellefont, co. Louth [I., 1616] on 28 October 1758.3 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Moore of Drogheda [I., 1622] on 28 October 1758.3 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Drogheda [I., 1661] on 28 October 1758.3 He held the office of Governor of Meath between 1759 and 1822.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)
