     Colonel William Henry Gerard Leigh was born on 5 August 1915.² He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Cecil Gerard Leigh and Helen Goudy.³ He married Nancy Jean Leslie, daughter of W/Cdr. Sir Norman Roderick Alexander David Leslie, 8th Bt. and Betty Elise Sewell, on 29 October 1946.⁴ He died on 19 September 2008 at age 93.³
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.² He was educated at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.² He was commissioned in 1937 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Life Guards.² He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, in the Middle East, Italy and North-East Europe.² He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Life Guards between 1953 and 1956.² He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Household Cavalry between 1956 and 1959.² He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1962.² He held the office of Gentleman Usher to HM Queen Elizbaeth II between 1967 and 1985.² He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1981.³ He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1983.³

     Louisa Harriet Peppercorne is the daughter of James Watts Peppercorne and Louisa Price.¹ She married James Jackson Wilks, son of Jonas Wilks, on 20 June 1854 at Weybridge Church, Weybridge, Surrey, England.¹

     Louisa Price is the daughter of Joseph Price.¹ She married James Watts Peppercorne on 7 March 1833 at Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales.¹
     From 7 March 1833, her married name became Peppercorne.¹

     Frances Wade was born circa 1788.¹ She married Captain John Bastard, son of Edmund Bastard and Jane Pownall, in 1817 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.¹ She died on 23 May 1870 at Wilton Crescent, Belgrave Square, St. George Hanover Square, London, England.¹
     From 1817, her married name became Bastard.¹
