Thomas Bermingham, 1st Earl of Louth1 
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Galway between 1745 and 1750.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] but was turned out of the council by Lord Townshend.1 He succeeded as the 15th Lord Athenry [I., c. 1280] on 4 March 1749/50.1 He was created 1st Earl of Louth [Ireland] on 23 April 1759.2,1 In 1799 1st and last Earl of Louth issue (see BURKE’S Dormant and Extinct Peerages). He d.3
On his death, the Earldom of Louth became extinct, and the Lordship of Athenry dormant.1
