Peerage Record – 1537

     Hon. Charlotte Georgiana Ponsonby was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Hon. Sir William Ponsonby and Hon. Georgiana Fitzroy.¹ She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. John Horace Thomas Stapleton, son of Lt.-Gen. William Stapleton and Anna Maria Keppel, on 8 July 1834.² She married, secondly, Rear-Admiral Sir Charles Talbot, son of Very Rev. Charles Talbot and Lady Elizabeth Somerset, on 11 December 1838.² She died on 7 September 1883.³
     From 8 July 1834, her married name became Stapleton. From 11 December 1838, her married name became Talbot.

     Lady Letitia Ponsonby was born circa 1720.² She was the daughter of Brabazon Ponsonby, 1st Earl of Bessborough and Sarah Margetson.¹ She married Hervey Morres, 1st Viscount Mountmorres, son of Francis Morres and Catherine Evans, on 3 November 1742.² She died on 9 February 1754.²
     From 3 November 1742, her married name became Morres.¹

     Maj.-Gen. Hon. Sir William Ponsonby was the son of William Brabazon Ponsonby, 1st Baron Ponsonby of Imokilly and Hon. Louisa Molesworth.¹ He married Hon. Georgiana Fitzroy, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Charles FitzRoy, 1st Baron Southampton and Anne Warren, on 26 January 1807.² He died on 18 June 1815 at Waterloo, Belgium^G, killed in action.¹
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)¹ He fought in the Battle of Waterloo on 16 June 1815.

     William Ponsonby, 3rd Baron Ponsonby of Imokilly was born posthumously on 6 February 1816 at Hampstead, London, England^G.² He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Hon. Sir William Ponsonby and Hon. Georgiana Fitzroy.¹ He was baptised on 5 April 1817 at Kensington, London, England^G.¹ He married Maria Theresa Duerbeck on 12 April 1851.² He died on 2 October 1861 at age 45 at Rottagh, Bayern, Germany^G, without issue.² He was buried at Rottagh, Bayern, Germany^G.²
     He gained the rank of Cornet in 1834 in the 3rd Light Dragoons.¹ In 1839 he had to leave England to escape his creditors, as a result of his gambling.² He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Ponsonby of Imokilly, co. Cork [I., 1806] on 21 February 1855.¹

     Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Hon. Sir William Ponsonby and Hon. Georgiana Fitzroy.¹ She married Reverend Henry George Talbot, son of Very Rev. Charles Talbot and Lady Elizabeth Somerset, on 1 August 1835.¹ She died on 14 September 1838.¹
     Her married name became Talbot.

     Frances West was the daughter of Lt.-Col. F. Ralph West.¹ She married Colonel George Talbot, son of Very Rev. Charles Talbot and Lady Elizabeth Somerset, on 26 June 1836.¹ She died on 30 July 1861.¹
     Her married name became Talbot.

     Major Henry Charles Talbot was born on 29 June 1838.² He was the son of Reverend Henry George Talbot and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby.² He married Juliana Augusta Berners, daughter of Captain Hugh Berners and Julia Alice Ashton, on 16 October 1867 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.³ He died on 31 March 1901 at age 62.²
     He gained the rank of Major in the 43rd Regiment.¹

     Juliana Augusta Berners was born circa 1838 at Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.² She was the daughter of Captain Hugh Berners and Julia Alice Ashton.² She married Major Henry Charles Talbot, son of Reverend Henry George Talbot and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby, on 16 October 1867 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.² She died on 22 January 1928.²
     Her married name became Talbot.

     Reverend Henry Arthur Charles Talbot was born on 17 August 1868 at Temple Guiting, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He was the son of Major Henry Charles Talbot and Juliana Augusta Berners.² He died on 16 March 1939 at age 70, unmarried.²
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, Oxfordshire Light Infantry.²

     Captain Henry FitzRoy George Talbot was born on 24 February 1874.¹ He was the son of Major Henry Charles Talbot and Juliana Augusta Berners.¹ He married Susan Blair Athol Allison, daughter of William Allison Allison, on 4 June 1904.¹ He died on 3 July 1920 at age 46, from a disease contracted through the war, while on active service.¹
     He fought in the Nile Expedition in 1898, where he was mentioned in dispatches.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹
