He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Irishtown between 1734 and 1756, (alias Canice.)4 He held the office of Mayor of Kilkenny from 1752 to 1753.4 He was created 1st Baron Mountmorres, of Castlemorres, co. Kilkenny [Ireland] on 4 May 1756.1 He was created 1st Viscount Mountmorres [Ireland] on 29 June 1763.1
