Bernard Edward Howard, 12th Duke of Norfolk was born on 21 November 1765.1 He was the son of Henry Howard and Juliana Molyneux.3 He married Lady Elizabeth Belasyse, daughter of Henry Belasyse, 2nd Earl of Fauconberg of Newborough and Charlotte Lamb, on 23 April 1789.1 He and Lady Elizabeth Belasyse were divorced in May 1794.1 He died on 16 March 1842 at age 76.1
His marriage to Lady Elizabeth Belasyse was annulled in 1800.1 He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Surrey [E., 1483] on 16 December 1815.1 He succeeded as the 12th Duke of Norfolk [E., 1483] on 16 December 1815.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl Marshal, of England [E., 1672] on 16 December 1815.1 He succeeded as the 10th Earl of Norfolk [E., 1644] on 16 December 1815.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1830.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1834.1
