Sir Richard Rothwell, 1st Bt.1 
He was created 1st Baronet Rothwell, of Ewerby and Stapleford, co. Lincoln [England] on 16 August 1661.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newark in 1677.5 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newark between 1679 and 1681.5

He was admitted to Gray’s Inn on 1 May 1635.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bury St. Edmunds from October 1645 to December 1648.2 He was commander of the Regiment of Foot in 1648 against the King’s forces at Colchester.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Suffolk from 1654 to 1655.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Suffolk from 1656 to 1658.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Suffolk in 1659.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ipswich from 1661 to February 1662.2 He was created 1st Baronet Barnardiston, of Ketton, co. Suffolk [England] on 7 April 1663.3 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4
