Admiral Edward Vernon was born on 12 November 1684.1 He was the son of James Vernon and Mary Buck.1 He died on 30 October 1757 at age 72.1
Admiral Edward Vernon also went by the nick-name of ‘Old Grog’.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral of the Blue on 7 July 1739.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Penryn.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ipswich.1 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1745.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Jamaica.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the North Sea.1

Lady Mary Montagu was born on 27 February 1774. She was the daughter of John Montagu, 5th Earl of Sandwich and Lady Mary Henrietta Powlett.2 She married John Henry Upton, 1st Viscount Templetown, son of Clotworthy Upton, 1st Baron Templetown and Elizabeth Boughton, on 7 October 1796.2 She died on 4 October 1824 at age 50.2
After her marriage, Lady Mary Montagu was styled as Baroness Templetown on 7 October 1796. From 7 October 1796, her married name became Upton.2 After her marriage, Lady Mary Montagu was styled as Viscountess Templetown on 13 February 1806.
