     Elizabeth Stirling was the daughter of Sir James Stirling, 4th of Keir and 1st of Cawder.2 She married John Napier, 8th of Merchistoun, son of Sir Archibald Napier, 7th of Merchistoun and Janet Bothwell, in 1572.1 She died in 1579.1
     From 1572, her married name became Napier.1

     John Napier, 8th of Merchistoun was born in 1550.3 He was the son of Sir Archibald Napier, 7th of Merchistoun and Janet Bothwell.3 He married, secondly, Agnes Chisholm, daughter of James Chisholm, 3rd of Cromlix and Jean Drummond.3 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Stirling, daughter of Sir James Stirling, 4th of Keir and 1st of Cawder, in 1572.1 He died on 3 April 1617 at Dacre Lodge, Enfield, London, England.3
     He was the inventor of logarithms.3
