William Napier was the son of Robert Napier and Anna Drummond.2 He married Elizabeth Houstoun, daughter of Sir Ludovic Houstoun of Houstoun and Margaret Maxwell, in 1659.1 He died in 1685, killed during Argyll’s abortive uprising in support of the Duke of Monmouth and a Protestant succession.1
