Sir John Evelyn, 1st Bt.1 

Sir John Evelyn, 1st Bt. was born on 1 March 1682 at Sayes Court, Greenwich, London, EnglandG.3 He was the son of John Evelyn and Martha Spencer.1 He married Ann Boscawen, daughter of Edward Boscawen and Jael Godolphin, on 18 September 1705.3 He died on 15 July 1763 at age 81.3
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Helston between 1708 and 1710.1 He held the office of Joint Postmaster-General between 1708 and 1715.1 He was created 1st Baronet Evelyn, of Wotton, Surrey [Great Britain] on 6 August 1713.1 He was a Commissioner of Customs between 1721 and 1763.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1
