     Turlogh O’Brien lived at Arra, County Tipperary, Ireland^G.¹ He was also known as Turlogh Mac-I-Brien-Ara.²

     Donough O’Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond was the son of Conor O’Brien, Prince of Thomond and Anabel de Burgh.¹ He married Lady Ellen Butler, daughter of Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormonde and Lady Margaret FitzGerald, in 1533.² He died on 1 April 1553, from wounds received in a skirmish with followers of his brothers, Sir Donal and Turlough.²
     Donough O’Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond also went by the nick-name of ‘The Fat’.² He was appointed Knight on 14 March 1541/42.² After his marriage, Donough O’Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond was styled as 1st Baron of Ibracken [Ireland] on 1 July 1543.² He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Thomond [I., 1543] in 1551, for life under the terms of the grant of this title to his uncle.² He surrendered his title of Earl of Thomond back to King Edward VI, and received a regrant.² He was created 1st Earl of Thomond [Ireland] on 7 January 1551/52.²

     Lady Ellen Butler was the daughter of Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormonde and Lady Margaret FitzGerald.² She married Donough O’Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond, son of Conor O’Brien, Prince of Thomond and Anabel de Burgh, in 1533.² She died on 2 July 1597. She was buried at St. Canice, County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.³
     Her married name became O’Brien. After her marriage, Lady Ellen Butler was styled as Countess of Thomond on 7 January 1552.

     Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormonde was born circa 1467.¹ He was the son of Sir James Butler and Sabh Kavanagh.¹ He married Lady Margaret FitzGerald, daughter of Gerald FitzGerald, 8th Earl of Kildare and Alison Eustace, circa 1485.² He died on 26 August 1539.¹ He was buried at St. Canice Cathedral, Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.³
     Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormonde also went by the nick-name of ‘Red Piers’.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1479.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Kilkenny in March 1488/89.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Ormonde [I., 1328] on 3 August 1515.¹ He held the office of Lord Depute of Ireland from March 1521/22 to 1524.¹ He held the office of Lord High Treasurer [Ireland] in 1524.¹ He held the office of Lord Depute of Ireland from 1528 to 1529.¹ He held the office of Constable of Dungarvan Castle, County Waterford in February 1527/28.¹ On 18 February 1527/28 he was forced to relinquish his Earldom so that Sir Thomas Boleyn could take it.¹ He was created 1st Earl of Ossory [Ireland] on 23 February 1527/28.¹ On 22 February 1537/38 he got back the Earldom of Ormonde.¹ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁴
     

     Lady Margaret FitzGerald was the daughter of Gerald FitzGerald, 8th Earl of Kildare and Alison Eustace.¹ She married Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormonde, son of Sir James Butler and Sabh Kavanagh, circa 1485.² She died in 1542.² She was buried at St. Canice Cathedral, Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.³
     From circa 1485, her married name became Butler.² After her marriage, Lady Margaret FitzGerald was styled as Countess of Ormonde on 3 August 1515.

     Gerald FitzGerald, 8th Earl of Kildare was born after January 1455/56.² He was the son of Thomas FitzMaurice FitzGerald, 7th Earl of Kildare and Lady Joan FitzGerald.^3,2 He married, firstly, Alison Eustace, daughter of Rowland Eustace, 1st and last Baron of Portlester and Genet Bellew, circa 1478.⁴ He married, secondly, Elizabeth St. John, daughter of Oliver St. John and Elizabeth Scrope, in 1496.⁵ He died on 3 September 1513, from his wounds.⁵
     He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Kildare [I., 1316] on 25 March 1477.¹ In 1494 he was attainted, on suspicion of supporting Perkin Warbeck, and imprisoned in the Tower of London.⁴ In 1495 his attainder was reversed.⁴ He held the office of Lord Depute of Ireland in 1496.⁴ He held the office of Deputy King’s Lieutenant of Ireland.⁴ He fought in the Battle of Knock Tuagh in 1504, where he defeated a confederacy of Irish chiefs.⁴ He held the office of Treasurer [Ireland] in 1505.⁴ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1505.⁴ He held the office of Lord Justice of Ireland in 1509.⁴ Circa 1 September 1513 at Leap Castle, County Offaly, Ireland^G, he was shot while watering his horse in river Greese by an O’More.⁴

     Gerald FitzGerald, 9th Earl of Kildare was born in 1487.¹ He was the son of Gerald FitzGerald, 8th Earl of Kildare and Alison Eustace.¹ He married, firstly, Elizabeth Zouche, daughter of Sir John la Zouche, in 1503.¹ He married, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Grey, daughter of Thomas Grey, 1st Marquess of Dorset and Cecilia Bonville, Baroness Bonville and Harington, in 1519.¹ He died on 13 December 1534 at Tower of London, The City, London, England^G, under suspicion of plotting a rebellion.¹
     Gerald FitzGerald, 9th Earl of Kildare also went by the nick-name of Geroit Oge (or in English, Gerald the Younger.)¹ Gerald FitzGerald, 9th Earl of Kildare also went by the nick-name of Garret McAlison (or in English, Gerald Alison’s son.)¹ He held the office of High Treasurer [Ireland] between 1503 and 1513.¹ He held the office of Lord Deputy [Ireland] in 1513.¹ He held the office of Lord Justice [Ireland] in 1513.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Kildare [I., 1316] on 3 September 1513.¹ He held the office of Lord Deputy [Ireland] from 1524 to 1525.¹ He held the office of Lord Deputy [Ireland] between 1532 and 1534.¹ He was Deputy to the King’s Lieutenant of Ireland in 1533.¹

     Sir James Butler was the son of Sir Edmund Butler and Giles O’Carroll.¹ He married Sabh Kavanagh, daughter of Donel Reagh Mac-Morrough Kavanagh, Lord of Ferns.¹ He died on 16 April 1487.¹
     He lived at Pottlerath, County Kilkenny, Ireland.¹ He was appointed Knight.

     Sabh Kavanagh is the daughter of Donel Reagh Mac-Morrough Kavanagh, Lord of Ferns. She married Sir James Butler, son of Sir Edmund Butler and Giles O’Carroll.¹
     Her married name became Butler.¹

     Donel Reagh Mac-Morrough Kavanagh, Lord of Ferns gained the title of Lord of Ferns, co. Wexford.
