He succeeded as the 4th Baron Cromwell on 24 September 1607.1 He was created 1st Viscount Lecale, in Ulster [Ireland] on 22 November 1624.1 He was commander of the Regiment of Horse [Ireland] for the King during the Civil War.1 He was created 1st Earl of Ardglass [Ireland] on 15 April 1645.1 He subsequently made his peace with the Parliament, paying £460 for his ‘delinquency.1‘ His last will was dated 26 March 1653.
