Rear-Admiral Sir James Douglas, 1st Bt.1 
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Orkney and Shetland between 1754 and 1768.1 He was appointed Knight in 1759 for bearing home the dispatch of the surrender of Quebec.1 He was commander of the a fleet at the Leeward Islands in 1761.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral of the White.1 He was created 1st Baronet Douglas, of Springwood Park, co. Roxburgh [Nova Scotia] on 27 June 1786.1
