William Ramsay

     William Ramsay was the son of George Ramsay and Hon. Jean Hamilton.1 He married Hon. Mary Sandilands, daughter of James Sandilands, 10th Lord Torphichen and Margaret Douglas Stirling, on 4 August 1828.1 He died on 14 March 1850.2
     He lived Edinburgh.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)1

     From 4 August 1828, her married name became Ramsay.1

     James Sandilands, 10th Lord Torphichen was born on 21 July 1770.2 He is the son of Hon. Robert Sandilands and Grizel Kirkpatrick.3 He married Margaret Douglas Stirling, daughter of John Stirling, 6th of Kippendavie and Mary Graham, on 3 November 1806.2 He died on 22 March 1862 at age 91.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Naval Service.2 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Torphichen, of Saint John of Torphichen, West Lothian [S., 1564] on 7 June 1815.2
