Rear-Admiral Sir Joshua Rowley, 1st Bt. was born on 1 May 1734 at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He was the son of Admiral Sir William Rowley and Arabella Dawson.1 He married Sarah Burton, daughter of Bartholomew Burton, on 18 April 1759 at St. Stephen’s Church, Coleman Street, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 20 February 1790 at age 55 at Tendring Hall, Suffolk, EnglandG.1
He was created 1st Baronet Rowley, of Tendring, Suffolk [Great Britain] on 27 June 1786.3 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral of the White.3

Sarah Burton was the daughter of Bartholomew Burton. She married Rear-Admiral Sir Joshua Rowley, 1st Bt., son of Admiral Sir William Rowley and Arabella Dawson, on 18 April 1759 at St. Stephen’s Church, Coleman Street, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 26 December 1812.2
