     Lady Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne was born on 7 September 1776 at Grosvenor Square, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Francis Godolphin Osborne, 5th Duke of Leeds and Lady Amelia Darcy.¹ She married Thomas Pelham, 2nd Earl of Chichester, son of Thomas Pelham, 1st Earl of Chichester and Anne Frankland, on 16 July 1801 at Lambeth Palace, Lambeth, London, England^G.¹ She died on 21 October 1862 at age 86 at Grosvenor Place, London, England^G.¹
     After her marriage, Lady Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne was styled as Baroness Pelham of Stanmer on 16 July 1801. From 16 July 1801, her married name became Pelham. After her marriage, Lady Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne was styled as Countess of Chichester on 8 January 1805.

     Hon. Lucy Pelham was born before 1779. She was the daughter of Thomas Pelham, 1st Earl of Chichester and Anne Frankland.² She married John Baker-Holroyd, 1st Earl of Sheffield, son of Isaac Holroyd and Dorothy Baker, on 26 December 1794.¹ She died on 18 January 1797, without issue.¹
     After her marriage, Hon. Lucy Pelham was styled as Baroness Sheffield on 26 December 1794. From 26 December 1794, her married name became Baker-Holroyd.

     John Baker-Holroyd, 1st Earl of Sheffield was born on 21 December 1735.² He was the son of Isaac Holroyd and Dorothy Baker.^1,3 He married, firstly, Abigail Way, daughter of Lewis Way and Abigail Lockey, on 26 April 1767.¹ He married, secondly, Hon. Lucy Pelham, daughter of Thomas Pelham, 1st Earl of Chichester and Anne Frankland, on 26 December 1794.³ He married, thirdly, Lady Anne North, daughter of Frederick North, 2nd Earl of Guilford and Anne Speke, on 20 January 1798.¹ He died on 30 May 1821 at age 85.³
     He was given the name of John Holroyd at birth.² He gained the rank of Cornet in 1760 in the 21st Dragoons.² He gained the rank of Captain in 1761.² In 1768 his name was legally changed to John Baker-Holroyd on inheriting his uncle, Reverend Jones Baker’s Buckinghamshire, Middlesex and Yorkshire estates.² He purchased Sheffield Place, which he bought from 2nd Earl De La Warr for £31,000 in 1769.² He gained the rank of Major in 1777.² He gained the rank of Colonel between 1779 and 1821 in the 22nd (Sussex) Regiment, and founder.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Coventry between February 1780 and July 1780.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Coventry between November 1780 and 1784.² He was created 1st Baron Sheffield, of Dunamore, co. Meath [Ireland] on 9 January 1781.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1783.² He was created 1st Baron Sheffield, of Roscommon, co. Roscommon [Ireland] on 20 September 1783, with a special remainder to male heirs of his two daughters by his first marriage.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bristol between 1790 and 1802.² He was created 1st Baron Sheffield, of Sheffield, co. Yorks [U.K.] on 29 July 1802.¹ He held the office of President of the Board of Agriculture in 1803.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1809.¹ He held the office of Member of the Board of Trade between 1809 and 1821.² He was created 1st Viscount of Pevensey [Ireland] on 16 January 1816.¹ He was created 1st Earl of Sheffield [Ireland] on 16 January 1816.¹ He took a leading part in suppressing the Gordon Riots.² He was a friend and patron of the historian Edward Gibbon, some of whose miscellaneous writings he edited.²

     Abigail Way was born on 14 March 1745 at Richmond, Surrey, England.² She was the daughter of Lewis Way and Abigail Lockey.^1,3 She married John Baker-Holroyd, 1st Earl of Sheffield, son of Isaac Holroyd and Dorothy Baker, on 26 April 1767.¹ She died on 3 April 1793 at age 48 at Downing Street, Westminster, London, England, without surviving male issue.^4,2
     Her married name became Holroyd. From 1768, her married name became Baker-Holroyd. After her marriage, Abigail Way was styled as Baroness Sheffield on 9 January 1781.

     Lewis Way was born on 5 May 1698.² He was the son of Benjamin Way and Elizabeth Coward.³ He married, firstly, Sophia Page, daughter of Sir Gregory Page, 1st Bt. and Mary Trotman, in 1721.³ He married, secondly, Philadelphia Newnham, daughter of Nathaniel Newnham, on 9 November 1736.³ He married, thirdly, Abigail Lockey, daughter of Edward Lockey and Abigail Hill, on 20 April 1738.² He married, fourthly, Sarah Payne, daughter of Reverend Thomas Payne and Sarah Andrews, on 1 May 1755.² He died on 24 January 1771 at age 72.⁴
     He lived at The Old Court, Richmond, Surrey, England^G.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)⁴

     Lady Anne North was the daughter of Frederick North, 2nd Earl of Guilford and Anne Speke.^1,2 She married John Baker-Holroyd, 1st Earl of Sheffield, son of Isaac Holroyd and Dorothy Baker, on 20 January 1798.¹ She died on 18 January 1832.¹
     After her marriage, Lady Anne North was styled as Baroness Sheffield on 20 January 1798. From 20 January 1798, her married name became Baker-Holroyd. After her marriage, Lady Anne North was styled as Countess of Sheffield on 16 January 1816.

     Frederick Henry Stuart Holroyd, Viscount Pevensey was born on 24 October 1827.¹ He was the son of George Augustus Frederick Charles Holroyd, 2nd Earl of Sheffield and Lady Harriett Lascelles.¹ He died on 21 March 1829 at age 1.¹
     He was styled as Viscount Pevensey.²

     Henry North Holroyd, 3rd Earl of Sheffield was born on 18 January 1832.¹ He was the son of George Augustus Frederick Charles Holroyd, 2nd Earl of Sheffield and Lady Harriett Lascelles.² He died on 21 April 1909 at age 77, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.² He was Attaché to the British Legation from 1851 to 1852 at Constantinople, Turkey.² He was Attaché to the British Legation in 1852 at Copenhagen, Denmark^G.¹ He was Attaché to the British Legation between 1853 and 1856 at Constantinople, Turkey^G.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Sussex between 1857 and 1865.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Sheffield, of Sheffield, co. Yorks [U.K., 1802] on 5 April 1876.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Sheffield [I., 1816] on 5 April 1876.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount of Pevensey [I., 1816] on 5 April 1876.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Sheffield, of Roscommon, co. Roscommon [I., 1783] on 5 April 1876.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Sheffield, of Dunamore, co. Meath [I., 1781] on 5 April 1876.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Sussex.² On his death, all of his titles except the 1783 Barony of Sheffield became extinct.¹

     Henry Thomas Pelham, 3rd Earl of Chichester was born on 25 August 1804 at Stratton Street, Piccadilly, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Thomas Pelham, 2nd Earl of Chichester and Lady Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne.¹ He married Lady Mary Brudenell, daughter of Robert Brudenell, 6th Earl of Cardigan and Penelope Anne Cooke, on 18 August 1828 at St. Mary’s Church, Cadogan Street, London, England^G.² He died on 15 March 1886 at age 81 at Stanmer Park, Lewes, Sussex, England^G.²
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of offcer in 1824 in the Royal Horse Guards.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Pelham of Stanmer, co. Sussex [G.B., 1762] on 4 July 1826.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Chichester [U.K., 1801] on 4 July 1826.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Pelham, of Laughton, co. Sussex [E., 1611] on 4 July 1826.³ He gained the rank of Major in 1841.¹ He held the office of Ecclesiastical Commissioner between 1841 and 1886.¹ He retired from the military in 1844.¹ He held the office of President of the Royal Agricultural Society in 1849.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex.⁴ He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of Sussex.⁴ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex between 1860 and 1886.¹

     Lady Mary Brudenell was born on 4 July 1806.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Brudenell, 6th Earl of Cardigan and Penelope Anne Cooke.¹ She married Henry Thomas Pelham, 3rd Earl of Chichester, son of Thomas Pelham, 2nd Earl of Chichester and Lady Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne, on 18 August 1828 at St. Mary’s Church, Cadogan Street, London, England^G.¹ She died on 22 May 1867 at age 60 at 29 Hill Street, London, England^G.¹ She died intestate and her estate was administered on 23 July 1867, at under £600.¹
     From 18 August 1828, her married name became Pelham. After her marriage, Lady Mary Brudenell was styled as Countess of Chichester on 18 August 1828.
