     Reverend Henry John Ridley was born on 28 December 1789.2 He was the son of Reverend Henry John Ridley and Frances Surtees.2,3 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Margaret Antoinette Ellis, daughter of John Ellis and Antoinette Parker, before 1813.2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Steere, daughter of Lee Steere Steere and Sarah Harrison, in 1823.1,2 He died on 29 November 1834 at age 44, by shooting himself.1,2
     He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1811 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1813 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was Rector between 1813 and 1817 at Whippingham, Hampshire, England.2 He held the office of Prebendary of Bristol between 1816 and 1832.2 He was the Rector between 1821 and 1827 at Abinger, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Prebendary of Norwich between 1832 and 1834.2

     He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1871 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was Assistant Secretary of the Board of Trade between 1895 and 1913.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
