     Lt.-Col. Eric Richard Thesiger was born on 17 February 1874.1 He was the son of Frederick Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford and Adria Fanny Heath.2 He married, firstly, Pearl Marie Coupland, daughter of John Coupland, on 29 October 1904.1 He married, secondly, Sydney Hilda Hutton-Croft, daughter of George Arthur Hutton-Croft, on 3 October 1929.1 He married, thirdly, Mary Pudsey, daughter of Reverend F. W. Pudsey, on 27 March 1953.1 He died on 2 October 1961 at age 87.1
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was Page-of-Honour to HM Queen Victoria.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the T.A.R.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice and mentioed in despatches twice.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Captain in the T.A.R.1 He was awarded the Order of the Crown of Belgium.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1919.1

     From 29 October 1904, her married name became Thesiger.1

     He was educated at Beaumont College, Old Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Acting Captain in the Indian Army.1
