Henrietta Powlett was born in 1705.3 She was the daughter of Lord William Powlett and Anne Egerton.1 She married Hon. William Townshend, son of Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend of Raynham and Hon. Elizabeth Pelham, on 29 May 1725.4 She died in 1755.4

Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend of Raynham

Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend of Raynham was born on 18 April 1675.2 He was the son of Horatio Townshend, 1st Viscount Townshend of Raynham and Mary Ashe.2 He married, firstly, Hon. Elizabeth Pelham, daughter of Thomas Pelham, 1st Baron Pelham of Laughton and Elizabeth Jones, on 3 July 1698.3 He married, secondly, Dorothy Walpole, daughter of Robert Walpole and Mary Burwell, before 25 July 1713.2 He died on 21 June 1738 at age 63.2
Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend of Raynham also went by the nick-name of ‘Turnip Townshend’.2 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Townshend, of Rainham, co. Norfolk [E., 1617] circa 7 December 1687.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Townshend of Raynham, co. Norfolk [E., 1682] circa 7 December 1687.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Townshend of Lynn Regis, co. Norfolk [E., 1682] circa 7 December 1687.2 He was educated at King’s College School, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was an agricultural improver.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk between 1701 and 1713.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1706.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1707.2 He was Captain of the Yeoman of the Guard between 1707 and 1711.2 He held the office of Joint Ambassador to the Hague Congress between 1709 and 1711.2 He held the office of Secretary of State for the North between 1714 and 1716.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk between 1714 and 1730.2 He held the office of Lord President of the Council from 1720 to 1721.2 He held the office of Secretary of State for the North in February 1720/21.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1724.2
