Henry Pelham-Clinton, 2nd Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne was born on 16 April 1720.1 He was the son of Henry Clinton, 7th Earl of Lincoln and Hon. Lucy Pelham.1 He married Catherine Pelham, daughter of Rt. Hon. Henry Pelham and Lady Catherine Manners, on 3 October 1744.3 He died on 22 February 1794 at age 73.1
He was given the name of Henry Clinton at birth.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Lincoln [E., 1572] on 30 April 1730.3 He was educated at Clare Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire between 1742 and 1757.1 He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber to King George II between 1743 and 1760.1 He held the office of Master of the Jewel Office in 1744.1 He held the office of Cofferer of the Household between 1746 and 1754.1 He held the office of Auditor of the Exchequer between 1751 and 1794.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1752.1 He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber to King George III between 1760 and 1762.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1768.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire between 1768 and 1794.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne [G.B., 1756] on 17 November 1768.3 On 1 December 1768 his name was legally changed to Henry Pelham-Clinton by Royal Licence.1

Catherine Pelham was born on 24 July 1727.1 She was the daughter of Rt. Hon. Henry Pelham and Lady Catherine Manners.3 She married Henry Pelham-Clinton, 2nd Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne, son of Henry Clinton, 7th Earl of Lincoln and Hon. Lucy Pelham, on 3 October 1744.1 She died on 27 July 1760 at age 33.3
From 3 October 1744, her married name became Clinton. After her marriage, Catherine Pelham was styled as Countess of Lincoln on 3 October 1744.

Thomas Pelham, 1st Baron Pelham of Laughton was born circa 1653.3 He was the son of Sir John Pelham, 3rd Bt. and Lady Lucy Sydney.4 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Sir William Jones, on 26 November 1679.3 He married, secondly, Lady Grace Holles, daughter of Gilbert Holles, 3rd Earl of Clare and Grace Pierrepont, on 21 May 1686.1 He died on 23 February 1711/12.3
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for East Grinstead from 1678 to 1679.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Sussex between 1679 and 1702.3 He was Commissioner of Customs between 1689 and 1691.3 He held the office of Lord of the Treasury from March 1689/90 to March 1690/91.3 He held the office of Lord of the Treasury from 1698 to 1699.3 He held the office of Lord of the Treasury from 1701 to 1702.3 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Pelham, of Laughton, co. Henry Pelham Pelham-Clinton, 4th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne was born on 30 January 1785 at Walton, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Thomas Pelham-Clinton, 3rd Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne and Lady Anna Maria Stanhope.1 He married Georgina Elizabeth Mundy, daughter of Edward Miller Mundy and Georgiana Chadwick, on 18 July 1807.1 He died on 12 January 1851 at age 65 at ClumberG.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Lincoln [E., 1572] on 18 May 1795.1 He succeeded as the 4th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne [G.B., 1756] on 18 May 1795. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire between 1809 and 1839.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1812.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) in 1834.1 He held the office of High Steward of Retford.1 He held the office of Steward and Keeper of Sherwood Forest.1
