Sir George Ramsay, 1st Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie1

     Sir George Ramsay, 1st Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie was born after 1570.1 He was the son of James Ramsay of Cockpen and Elizabeth Ramsay.1 He married Margaret Douglas, daughter of Sir George Douglas, in 1593.1 He died before 22 July 1629.1
     He was appointed Knight before 1603.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kincardineshire [Scotland] in 1617.1 He was created 1st Lord Ramsay of Melrose [Scotland] on 25 August 1618.1 He was created 1st Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie [Scotland] on 5 January 1619, which he exchanged for his earlier 1618 Lordship.1

     James Ramsay of Cockpen was the son of George Ramsay of Dalhousie and Elizabeth Hepburn.1 He married Elizabeth Ramsay, daughter of David Ramsay of Clatty, on 5 April 1570.1 He died in November 1580.1
     In 1569 he had a charter for Cockpen.1

George Ramsay of Dalhousie1

     George Ramsay of Dalhousie was the son of Nicolas Ramsay of Dalhousie, Carnock, Foulden and Kerington.1 He married Elizabeth Hepburn, daughter of Sir Patrick Hepburn of Waughton and Luffness and Helen Hepburn.1 He died on 2 December 1580.1
     Between 1528 and 1564 he had charters of his lands.1 He fought in the Battle of Langside in 1568, where he supported Mary, Queen of Scots.1 He also had five other daughters.1

Nicolas Ramsay of Dalhousie, Carnock, Foulden and Kerington1

     Nicolas Ramsay of Dalhousie, Carnock, Foulden and Kerington was the son of Sir Alexander Ramsay of Dalhousie and Nichole Ker.1 He married, firstly, Isobel Livingston after 1513.1 He married, secondly, Christian Ross, daughter of Ninian Ross, 3rd Lord Ross of Halkhead, on 5 November 1552.1 He died before 9 May 1555.1

     Alexander Ramsay of Dalhousie was the son of Alexander Ramsay.1 He married Isabella Douglas, daughter of George Douglas, 4th Earl of Angus and Isabel Sibbald.1 He died before 16 March 1482/83.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [Scotland] between 1471 and 1480.1

Sir Alexander Ramsay of Dalhousie1

     Sir Alexander Ramsay of Dalhousie was the son of Sir Alexander Ramsay of Dalhousie.2 He married, secondly, Margaret (?)1 He married Joneta Guthrie of Hilletoun, daughter of William Guthrie of Hilletoun, circa 1420.2 He died between 6 August 1459 and 19 March 1465.1
     He held the office of Auditor of the Exchequer in 1450.1 In 1456 he had a charter for Dalhousie (Dalwolsy), along with Keringtoun, co. Edinburgh and Foulden, Berwickshire.1
