Colonel William David Gibson was born on 22 March 1914 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Hon. Edward Graves Mayne Gibson and Mary Phillips Greg.1 He married Sabina Landsberg, daughter of Dr. Ernst Landsberg, on 6 January 1947.1 He died on 14 September 1993 at age 79 at Plymouth, Devon, England.1,2
Colonel William David Gibson usually went by his middle name of David.1 He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was 2nd master and modern languages teacher, and housemaster between 1936 and 1965 at Clifton School, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the General Staff.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1944.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1948 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1
