     Elizabeth Henderson is the daughter of Henry Henderson.² She married Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 1st Bt., son of John Clerk of Penicuik and Mary Gray, in 1674.¹
     From 1674, her married name became Clerk.¹

     Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt. was born on 8 November 1676.¹ He was the son of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Henderson.² He married, firstly, Lady Margaret Stewart, daughter of Alexander Stewart, 3rd Earl of Galloway and Lady Mary Douglas, on 23 February 1701.¹ He married, secondly, Janet Inglis, daughter of Sir James Inglis of Cramond, 1st Bt. and Anne Houstoun, on 15 November 1709.¹ He died on 4 October 1755 at age 78.¹
     He was a composer (works include ‘Symphonia for Cantata (sic) Odo di mesto intorno.¹‘) He was a practising Advocate on 20 July 1700.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Whithorn [Scotland] between 1702 and 1707.¹ He was Commissioner for the Union.¹ He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer [Scotland] between 1707 and 1755.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Whithorn from 1707 to 1708.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Clerk, of Penicuik, Edinburgh [N.S., 1679] in 1722.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 1725.³ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1728.³

     Janet Inglis was baptised on 1 February 1687 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.² She was the daughter of Sir James Inglis of Cramond, 1st Bt. and Anne Houstoun.^1,3 She married Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Henderson, on 15 November 1709.¹ She died on 29 January 1760 at age 72.¹
     From 15 November 1709, her married name became Clerk.¹

     Lady Margaret Stewart was the daughter of Alexander Stewart, 3rd Earl of Galloway and Lady Mary Douglas.^2,3 She married Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Henderson, on 23 February 1701.¹ She died on 26 December 1701, in childbirth.³
     From 23 February 1701, her married name became Clerk.¹

     Sir James Clerk of Penicuik, 3rd Bt. was born circa 1710.² He was the son of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt. and Janet Inglis.³ He married Elizabeth Cleghorn, daughter of Reverend John Cleghorn.¹ He died on 6 February 1782, without issue.¹
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Clerk, of Penicuik, Edinburgh [N.S., 1679] on 4 October 1755.¹

     Reverend John Cleghorn was the Minister at Wemyss, Fife, Scotland^G.²

     Elizabeth Cleghorn is the daughter of Reverend John Cleghorn.² She married Sir James Clerk of Penicuik, 3rd Bt., son of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt. and Janet Inglis.¹
     Her married name became Clerk.¹

     Delphine Barsalon married Charles François Clerk, son of George Edward Clerk and Marie Louise Elizabeth Dupuis.¹
     Her married name became Clerk.¹

     Dorothea Clerk-Maxwell was the daughter of William Clerk-Maxwell and Agnes Maxwell.¹ She married Sir George Clerk of Penicuik, 4th Bt., son of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt. and Janet Inglis.¹ She died on 28 December 1793.¹
     Her married name became Clerk.¹
