Donald Macdonald, 8th of Glengary and Morar1 
He was also known as Donald Macdonell, 8th of Glengarry.2 On 19 July 1574 he had a charter under the Great Seal of the lands of Glengarry.2 On 15 April 1584 he was legitimated under the Privy Seal.2 On 5 November 1584 he was served heir to Margaret his grandmother in half of the lands of Achuilt and to his great-great-grandfather Celestine of Lochalsh.2 On 27 March 1627 he had a charter under the Great Seal, on his own resignation, of the lands of Glengarry incorporating it into a free barony.2

Alastair ‘Dearg’ Macdonald also went by the nick-name of Alastair ‘Dearg’ (or in English, ‘red of hair or complexion.1‘) On 17 March 1607 his heir the resigned the lands of Strone and others to Kenneth Mackenzie, 7th of Kintail, afterwards 1st Lord Mackenzie of Kintail.2
