     Melville Portal was born on 31 July 1819.² He was the son of John Portal and Elizabeth Drummond. He married Lady Charlotte Mary Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, daughter of Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 2nd Earl of Minto and Mary Brydone, on 9 October 1855.² He died on 24 January 1904 at age 84.²
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was a practising barrister.² He was chairman of the Quarter Sessions (Q.S.)² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Hampshire between 1849 and 1857.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)² He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1863.² They also had a daughter who died unmarried.² He lived at Laverstoke House, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Colonel Warner J. L. Heriot was born on 23 September 1845 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.² He was the son of Reverend George Heriot and Frances Elizabeth (?)² He married Smarajda Musurus, daughter of Pasha Constantine Musurus, in 1872 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.² He died in May 1917 at age 71 at Norham-on-Tweed, Northumberland, England.²

     Boscawen Trevor Griffith-Boscawen was born on 11 July 1860 at Bath, Somerset, England^G.² He was the son of Boscawen Trevor Griffith-Boscawen and Helen Sophia Duff.² He married Agnes Lillian Bellers. He died on 22 May 1941 at age 80.²
     Boscawen Trevor Griffith-Boscawen usually went by his middle name of Trevor.² He lived at Trevalyn, Denbighshire, Wales^G.¹

     Major Sir Evelyn Delves Broughton, 12th Bt. was born on 2 October 1915.¹ He was the son of Major Sir Henry John Delves Broughton, 11th Bt. and Vera Edyth Griffith-Boscawen.¹ He married, firstly, Hon. Elizabeth Florence Marion Cholmondeley, daughter of Thomas Pitt Hamilton Cholmondeley, 4th Baron Delamere of Vale Royal and Phyllis Anne Montagu Douglas Scott, on 28 January 1947.¹ He and Hon. Elizabeth Florence Marion Cholmondeley were divorced in 1953.¹ He married, secondly, Helen Mary Shore, daughter of John Shore, on 3 March 1955.¹ He and Helen Mary Shore were divorced in 1974.¹ He married, thirdly, Rona Zara Clifford-Johns, daughter of Ernest Clifford-Johns, on 14 May 1974.¹ He died on 5 January 1993 at age 77.^1,3

     Edith Gertrude Arbuthnott was born on 11 April 1895.¹ She was the daughter of Donald Stuart Arbuthnott and Anne Elizabeth Brand.¹ She died in 1967.¹

     Lt.-Cdr. Michael John Baring was born on 15 April 1921.¹ He was the son of Major Dudley William Baring and Cecilia Mary Gray-Buchanan.¹ He married Pamela Anne Barnardo, daughter of Lt.-Col. Frederick Adolphus Fleming Barnardo, on 19 January 1946.¹ He died on 25 May 1955 at age 34, following an accident.¹
     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.¹
