Peerage Record – 1627

     Robert Arbuthnott, 2nd Viscount of Arbuthnott was born in 1638.² He was the son of Robert Arbuthnott, 1st Viscount of Arbuthnott and Lady Marjory Carnegie.¹ He married by contract, firstly, Lady Elizabeth Keith, daughter of William Keith, 6th Earl Marischal and Lady Elizabeth Seton, on 25 March 1658.¹ He married by contract, secondly, Catherine Gordon, daughter of Robert Gordon, 6th of Pitlurg, on 30 July 1667.¹ He died on 16 June 1682.¹ He was also reported to have died on 15 June 1682.³
     He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Inverbervie, of co. Kincardine [S., 1641] on 10 October 1655.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount of Arbuthnott, of co. Kincardine [S., 1641] on 10 October 1655.¹

     Sophia Harriett Waller was the daughter of Sir Thomas Wathen Waller, 2nd Bt. and Catherine Wise.² She married Arthur Thomas Liddell, 5th Baron Ravensworth, son of Reverend Hon. Robert Liddell and Emily Ann Charlotte Wellesley, on 9 October 1866.¹ She died on 8 September 1918.¹
     Her married name became Liddell. After her marriage, Sophia Harriett Waller was styled as Baroness Ravensworth on 7 February 1904.

     Reverend George Barrington, 5th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass was born on 16 July 1761 at London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Hon. John Barrington and Elizabeth Vassal.¹ He married Elizabeth Adair, daughter of Robert Adair and Lady Caroline Keppel, on 12 February 1788.¹ He died on 4 March 1829 at age 67 at Rome, Italy^G.¹ His will was proven (by probate) in September 1829.¹
     He was educated in 1774 at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G, as a King’s Scholar.¹ He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 27 June 1778.¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1782 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1785 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was the Rector at Sedgefield, County Durham, England^G.¹ He held the office of Prebendary of Durham between 1796 and 1829.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass, co. Down [I., 1720] on 8 December 1813.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baron Barrington of Newcastle, co. Limerick [I., 1720] on 8 December 1813.¹

     Caroline Elizabeth Barrington was the daughter of Reverend George Barrington, 5th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass and Elizabeth Adair.² She married Hon. Thomas Liddell, son of Thomas Henry Liddell, 1st Baron Ravensworth and Maria Susannah Simpson, on 28 February 1843.¹ She died on 4 March 1890.¹
     Her married name became Liddell.

     Louisa Meade was the daughter of General Hon. Robert Meade and Anne Louise Dalling.² She married Hon. George Liddell, son of Thomas Henry Liddell, 1st Baron Ravensworth and Maria Susannah Simpson, on 23 May 1842.¹ She died on 19 May 1873.¹
     Her married name became Liddell.

     Frederica Elizabeth Lane Fox was the daughter of George Lane Fox and Georgiana Henrietta Buckley. She married Hon. Sir Adolphus Frederick Octavious Liddell, son of Thomas Henry Liddell, 1st Baron Ravensworth and Maria Susannah Simpson, on 14 October 1845.¹ She died on 29 November 1867.¹
     Her married name became Liddell.

     Adolphus George Charles Liddell was born on 29 June 1846.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sir Adolphus Frederick Octavious Liddell and Frederica Elizabeth Lane Fox.¹ He died on 12 August 1920 at age 74.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1871 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He was Chief Clerk, Crown Office between 1886 and 1920.¹ He was Assistant Secretary, Lord Chancellor’s Office between 1888 and 1919.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1906.¹ He was Private Secretary to Lord Chancellor between 1909 and 1915.¹ He wrote the book Notes from the Life of an Ordinary Mortal, published 1911.¹

     Walter Bartram Liddell was born on 1 May 1857.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sir Adolphus Frederick Octavious Liddell and Frederica Elizabeth Lane Fox.¹ He died on 21 April 1864 at age 6.¹

     Gertrude Frances Elizabeth Liddell was the daughter of Hon. Sir Adolphus Frederick Octavious Liddell and Frederica Elizabeth Lane Fox.¹ She married Leonard Sartoris, son of Alfred Urban Sartoris and Hon. Mary Frances Barrington, on 16 August 1890.¹ She died on 28 August 1916.¹
     Her married name became Sartoris.

     Mary Beatrice Caroline Liddell was the daughter of Hon. Sir Adolphus Frederick Octavious Liddell and Frederica Elizabeth Lane Fox.¹ She married Lionel Charles George Sartoris, son of Alfred Urban Sartoris and Hon. Mary Frances Barrington, on 1 March 1897.¹ She died on 30 July 1951.
     Her married name became Sartoris.
