Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland1 
He was educated at Queens’ College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Rutland [E., 1525] on 24 February 1587/88.3 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in February 1594/95 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was admitted to Inner Temple.3 In 1597 he participated in the Azores Expedition.3 He was admitted to Gray’s Inn.3 He held the office of High Steward of East Retford before November 1598.3 He gained the rank of Captain of Foot in 1599 in the Earl of Essex’s regiment.3 He was appointed Knight in 1599.3 He held the office of Warden of Sherwood Forest in 1600.3 He held the office of Constable of Nottingham Castle in 1600.3 He fought in the Essex’s Rebellion in February 1600/1.3 From February 1600/1 to August 1601 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London and fined £30,000.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire in 1603.3 He held the office of High Steward of Grantham in 1603.3 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1603.2 He held the office of Steward of Long Bennington and Mansfield in 1609.3

Elizabeth Sydney 
Elizabeth Sydney was baptised on 20 November 1585.2 She was the daughter of Sir Philip Sydney and Frances Walsingham.2 She married Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland, son of John Manners, 4th Earl of Rutland and Elizabeth Charlton, on 5 March 1598/99.3 She died circa 8 August 1612.2 She was buried before 11 August 1612.2
From 5 March 1598/99, her married name became Manners. After her marriage, Elizabeth Sydney was styled as Countess of Rutland on 5 March 1598/99.

Cecily Tufton1 
Cecily Tufton was born in 1587.2 She was the daughter of Sir John Tufton, 1st Bt. and Christian Browne.1 She married, firstly, Sir Edward Hungerford, son of Walter Hungerford, 1st Lord Hungerford of Heytesbury and Alice Sandys, before 1607.1 She married, secondly, Francis Manners, 6th Earl of Rutland, son of John Manners, 4th Earl of Rutland and Elizabeth Charlton, after 26 October 1608.1 She died circa 9 September 1653.2 She was buried on 11 September 1653.3
From before 1608, her married name became Hungerford.1 Her married name became Manners. After her marriage, Cecily Tufton was styled as Countess of Rutland on 26 June 1612.

George Manners, 7th Earl of Rutland 
He fought in the Essex’s Rebellion in February 1601.1 In March 1601 he was imprisoned and released on bail for £500.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grantham from 1603/4 to 1610/11.1 He graduated from Christ’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1612 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grantham in 1614.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire from 1619/20 to 1621/22.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grantham from 1623/24 to 1625.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Rutland [E., 1525] on 17 December 1632.1 He held the office of Warden of Sherwood Forest in 1635.1
