Gerald Walter Erskine Loder, 1st Baron Wakehurst 

Gerald Walter Erskine Loder, 1st Baron Wakehurst was born on 25 October 1861 at Cuckfield, Sussex, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Loder, 1st Bt. and Maria Georgiana Busk.3 He married Lady Louise de Vere Beauclerk, daughter of William Ameleus Aubrey de Vere Beauclerk, 10th Duke of Saint Albans and Lady Sybil Mary Grey, on 25 October 1890 at St. George Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.2 He died on 30 April 1936 at age 74.4
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)4 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, on 29 June 1934 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)4 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1888 entitled to practise as a barrister.4 He was Assistant Private Secretary to President of Local Government Board between 1888 and 1892.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Brighton between 1889 and 1905.4 He was Assistant Private Secretary to Secretary of State, India between 1896 and 1901.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex.4 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Sussex.4 He wrote the book Wakehurst Place, Sussex, published 1907.4 He was chairman of London Brighton and South Coast Railway in 1922.4 He was president of RHS between 1929 and 1931.4 He was created 1st Baron Wakehurst, of Ardingly, co. Sussex [U.K.] on 20 June 1934.4
