     Gertrude von Sachsen was born circa 1154.2 She was the daughter of Heinrich V Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Clementia von Zähringen.3 She married Friedrich IV Hohenstaufen, Duke of Swabia, son of Conrad III Hohenstaufen, King of the Romans and Gertrude von Sulzbach, circa 1166. She married Knud VI Valdemarsson, King of Denmark, son of Valdemar I ‘the Great’ Knutsson, King of Denmark and Sophie of Polotzk, in 1177.2 She died on 1 July 1196.

     Philip von Hohenstaufen, Duke of Swabia was born in 1176.1 He was the son of Friedrich I ‘Barbarossa’ Hohenstaufen, Holy Roman Emperor and Beatrice de Bourgogne.1 He married Irene Angelina, daughter of Isaak II Angelos, Emperor of Constantinople, on 25 May 1197. He died in 1208, murdered.1
     He succeeded as the King Philip of the Romans in 1198.1 He gained the title of Philip Deutscher Kaiser.2 He gained the title of Duke of Swabia.1
