Alexander Stewart, 1st/4th Earl of Caithness1

He was also known as Alan Stewart.2 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Caithness [S., 1375] circa 1428.1 On 15 May 1430 he obtained a patent for the Earldom of Caithness, with special remainder to his father and heirs.1 He was created 1st Earl of Caithness [Scotland] on 15 May 1430, with a special remainder to his father and his heirs.1

David Stewart, Master of Atholl1 
He was also known as James Stewart which was a misprint in the Preface to volume iv of the Exch. Rolls [Scotland], p. clxi.3,2 He was styled as Master of Atholl.2 In May 1424 he was one of the hostages for the ransom of King James I.2
