     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1947 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Assistant Archivist, Hertfordshire County Council between 1948 and 1950.1 He graduated from London University, London, England, in 1949 with a Archives Diploma.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1950 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Assistant Archivist, Middlesex County Council between 1950 and 1955.1 He was Archivist to the Governments of Northern Rhodesia and Zambia between 1955 and 1965.1 He lived in 2003 at The Glen, Coombe Kea, Truro, Cornwall, England.1
