     Sophie Charlotte von Holstein-Gottorp, Herzogin von Oldenburg was born on 2 February 1879 at Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, Germany^G.¹ She was the daughter of Friedrich August von Holstein-Gottorp, Grand Duke of Oldenburg and Elisabeth Anne Prinzessin von Preußen.¹ She married Wilhelm Eitel-Friedrich Christian Karl Prinz von Preußen, son of Wilhelm II, Deutscher Kaiser, König von Preußen and Auguste Viktoria Prinzessin von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg, on 27 February 1907.¹ She and Wilhelm Eitel-Friedrich Christian Karl Prinz von Preußen were divorced on 20 October 1926.² She married Harald von Hedemann on 24 November 1927 at Rastede, Niedersachsen, Germany^G.¹ She was also reported to have been married on 27 February 1906. She died on 29 March 1964 at age 85 at Westerstede, Niedersachsen, Germany^G.¹

     Friedrich August von Holstein-Gottorp, Grand Duke of Oldenburg was born on 16 November 1852 at Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, Germany^G.¹ He was the son of Peter II von Holstein-Gottorp, Grand Duke of Oldenburg and Elisabeth Pauline Alexandrine Prinzessin von Sachsen-Altenburg.¹ He married, firstly, Elisabeth Anne Prinzessin von Preußen, daughter of Friedrich Karl Nikolaus Prinz von Preußen and Marie Anne Prinzessin von Anhalt-Dessau, on 18 February 1878.¹ He married, secondly, Elisabeth Herzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin, daughter of Friedrich Franz II Großherzog von Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Marie Prinzessin von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, on 24 October 1896 at Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany^G.¹ He died on 24 February 1931 at age 78 at Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, Germany^G.¹
     He gained the title of HRH Grand Duke of Oldenburg.

She married Friedrich August von Holstein-Gottorp, Grand Duke of Oldenburg, son of Peter II von Holstein-Gottorp, Grand Duke of Oldenburg and Elisabeth Pauline Alexandrine Prinzessin von Sachsen-Altenburg, on 18 February 1878.² She died on 28 August 1895 at age 38 at Schloss Adolfseck bei Fulda, Germany^G.²
