Wilhelm I König von Württemberg was born on 27 September 1781 at Lüben, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.3 He was the son of Friedrich II (I) Wilhelm Karl König von Württemberg and Auguste Caroline Friederike Luise Prinzessin von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. He married, firstly, Charlotte Auguste Prinzessin von Bayern, daughter of Maximilian IV (I) Joseph König von Bayern and Auguste Wilhelmine Prinzessin von Hessen-Darmstadt, on 8 June 1808.3 He and Charlotte Auguste Prinzessin von Bayern were divorced on 31 August 1814.3 He married, secondly, Ekaterina Pavlovna Romanov, Grand Duchess of Russia, daughter of Pavel I Petrovich Romanov, Tsar of Russia and Sophia Dorothea Prinzessin von Württemberg, on 24 January 1816 at St. Petersburg, RussiaG.3 He married, thirdly, Pauline Therese Herzogin von Württemberg, daughter of Ludwig Friedrich Alexander Herzog von Württemberg and Henriette Prinzessin von Nassau-Weilburg, on 15 April 1820. He died on 25 June 1864 at age 82 at Rosenstein Castle, Stuttgart, Baden-Württemburg, Germany.3
