He was created 1st Lord of Kintyre [Scotland] on 22 February 1626.1 He was created 1st Lord of Lundie [Scotland] in 1642.1 He was created 1st Earl of Irvine [Scotland] in 1642.1
The title of the Earl of Irvine expired on his death, while the Lordship of Kintrye devolved upon the Marquess of Argyll.

Lady Mary Stuart was born in 1628 at Darnaway Castle, Elginshire, ScotlandG.3 She was the daughter of James Stuart, 4th Earl of Moray and Lady Margaret Home.1 She married Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll, son of Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll and Lady Margaret Douglas, on 13 May 1650 at Canongate, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 She died in May 1668.1
Her married name became Campbell. After her marriage, Lady Mary Stuart was styled as Countess of Argyll on 16 October 1663.

Elizabeth Elphinstone was born on 24 May 1673 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.3 She was the daughter of John Elphinstone, 8th Lord Elphinstone and Isabel Maitland.4 She married Hon. John Campbell, son of Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll and Lady Mary Stuart, in 1692 at Newbottle, Houghton Le Spring, County Durham, EnglandG.5 She died on 13 April 1758 at age 84.6
Her married name became Campbell.

Elizabeth Murray, Countess of Dysart was born on 28 September 1626.4 She was the daughter of William Murray, 1st Earl of Dysart and Catherine Bruce.5 She married, firstly, Sir Lionel Tollemache, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Lionel Tollemache, 2nd Bt. and Hon. Elizabeth Stanhope, circa 22 May 1651.5 She married, secondly, John Maitland, 1st and last Duke of Lauderdale, son of John Maitland, 1st Earl of Lauderdale and Lady Isabel Seton, on 17 February 1671/72.5 She died on 5 June 1698 at age 71 at Ham House, London, England.5,4
From circa 22 May 1651, her married name became Tollemache.5 She succeeded as the 2nd Lady Huntingtower, co. Perth [S., 1643] in September 1653, suo jure.5 She succeeded as the 2nd Countess of Dysart, co. Fife [S., 1643] in September 1653, suo jure.5 On 5 December 1670 she resigned her title, and obtained a regrant with precedence of 1643.5 After her marriage, Elizabeth Murray, Countess of Dysart was styled as Countess of Lauderdale on 17 February 1671/72. From 17 February 1671/72, her married name became Maitland. After her marriage, Elizabeth Murray, Countess of Dysart was styled as Duchess of Lauderdale on 26 March 1672.
