     Sir Richard Bulkeley, 1st Bt. was born on 7 September 1634 at Tallaght, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹ He was the son of Reverend William Bulkeley and Elizabeth Mainwaring.¹ He married, firstly, Catherine Bysse, daughter of John Bysse and Margaret Edgworth, in 1659.¹ He married, secondly, Dorothy Whitfield, daughter of Henry Whitfield, on 8 February 1684/85 at St. Nicholas, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹ He died on 17 March 1684/85 at age 50.¹ His will was proven (by probate) in 1685.¹
     He held the office of Sheriff of County Wicklow in 1660.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Baltinglass [Ireland] from 1665 to 1666.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Bulkeley, of Dunlaven, co. Wicklow [Ireland] on 9 December 1672.¹ His last will was dated 17 January 1684/85.

     Reverend William Bulkeley was the son of Rt. Rev. Lancelot Bulkeley.¹ He died in February 1670/71.¹
     He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)¹ He held the office of Archdeacon of Dublin.¹

     Elizabeth Mainwaring is the daughter of Henry Mainwaring.¹

     Henry Mainwaring held the office of Archdeacon of Ossory.¹ He held the office of Master in Chancery [Ireland].¹ He lived at Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.¹

     Rt. Rev. Lancelot Bulkeley is the son of Sir Richard Bulkeley and Agnes Needham.²
     He held the office of Archbishop of Dublin.¹
