     Chesborough Ranald MacDonald is the son of Henry Chesborough Hamish Macdonald and Nancy Syme.^2,3 He married Hon. Patricia Joan Kathleen Tryon, daughter of Charles George Vivian Tryon, 2nd Baron Tryon and Etheldreda Josephine Burrell, on 11 August 1973.⁴
     He was publisher of The Age, when it was owned by David Syme & Company at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia^G.¹ Chesborough Ranald MacDonald usually went by his middle name of Ranald.⁴

     William Havelock was baptised on 2 December 1756 at Guisborough, Yorkshire, England.² He was the son of William Havelock and Ann Longbotham.^3,2 He married Jane Carter, daughter of John Carter and Elizabeth Ettrick, on 16 August 1787 at Sunderland, County Durham, England.^3,2 He died on 24 June 1836 at age 79 at Heavitree, Devon, England.²

     Jane Carter was the daughter of John Carter and Elizabeth Ettrick.¹ She married William Havelock, son of William Havelock and Ann Longbotham, on 16 August 1787 at Sunderland, County Durham, England.^1,2 She died on 26 February 1810 at Greenhithe, Kent, England.²
     From 16 August 1787, her married name became Havelock.¹

     Lt.-Col. William Havelock was born on 21 January 1793 at Sunderland, County Durham, England.^2,3 He was the son of William Havelock and Jane Carter.² He married Caroline Elizabeth Chaplin, daughter of Major Acton Chaplin and Elizabeth Carrington Nunn, on 14 June 1824 at Poona, England^G.⁴ He died on 22 November 1848 at age 55 at India, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Waterloo, where he was Aide-de-Camp to Count von Alten, and was wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Captain on 7 February 1818.⁴ He was appointed Knight, Hanoverian Order (K.H.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 14th Light Dragoons.¹ He fought in the Battle of Ramnugger, Sikh War on 22 November 1848.¹

     Sir Henry Havelock was born on 5 April 1795 at Sunderland, County Durham, England.^1,2 He was the son of William Havelock and Jane Carter.¹ He married Hannah Shepherd Marshman, daughter of Reverend Joshua Marshman, on 9 February 1829.¹ He died on 24 November 1857 at age 62 at Lucknow, India.^1,2

     Maria Emma Havelock was born in 1842.¹ She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Charles Frederick Havelock and Mary Wemyss.¹ She died in 1888.¹
