     Maj.-Gen. Charles Frederick Havelock was born on 16 October 1802 at Swanscombe, Kent, EnglandG.1,2 He was the son of William Havelock and Jane Carter.1 He married Mary Wemyss, daughter of James Wemyss and Caroline Charlotte Binfield, on 1 May 1833.3 He died on 20 May 1868 at age 65 at Fareham, Hampshire, England.2
     He was commissioned in 1821 with the rank of Cornet, in the service of the 16th Lancers.1 He fought in the Siege of Bhurtpoor in 1825.1 He fought in the Battle of Ferozeshah, where he was seriously wounded.1 He fought in the Battle of Moodkee.1 He fought in the Battle of Goojerat.1 He fought in the Battle of Sobraon.1 He fought in the Capture of Ghuznee.1 He fought in the Afghan Campaign.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in October 1854 in the Osmanli Irregular Cavalry.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in August 1856 in the Ottoman Army.1

Lady Anne, Countess Ossory

     Lady Anne Hyde was the daughter of Laurence Hyde, 1st Earl of Rochester and Lady Henrietta Boyle.1 She married James Butler, 2nd Duke of Ormonde, son of Thomas Butler, 6th Earl of Ossory and Lady Amelia de Nassau, on 20 July 1682.1 She died on 25 January 1684/85.1
     After her marriage, Lady Anne Hyde was styled as Countess of Ormonde on 20 July 1682. From 20 July 1682, her married name became Butler.

Thomas Butler, Earl of Ossory

     Thomas Butler, 6th Earl of Ossory was born on 8 July 1634.3 He was the son of James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormonde and Elizabeth Preston, Baroness Dingwall.1,3 He married Lady Amelia de Nassau, daughter of Louis de Nassau, Herr van der Leck and Beverwaerde and Countess Isabella of Hornes, on 17 November 1659.4 He died on 30 July 1680 at age 46.5
     He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1660.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Bristol between 1661 and 1666.6 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General of Horse between 1661 and 1674.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for University of Dublin [Ireland] from 1661 to 1662.6 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Ossory [I., 1528] on 8 August 1662, called up to the Irish House of Parliament in his father’s lifetime.3 He held the office of Deputy Governor of Ireland from 1664 to 1665.6 He was Lieutenant-General of the Forces in Ireland between 1665 and 1680.6 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1666.6 He held the office of Gentleman of the Bedchamber between 1666 and 1680.6 He was created 1st Lord Butler of Moore Park, co. Hertford [England by writ] on 17 September 1666.4 He held the office of Deputy Governor of Ireland from 1668 to 1669.6 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1672.3 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral of the Red in 1673.6 He was Commander-in-Chief of the The Nore in 1673.6 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral of the Blue in 1673.6 He held the office of Governor of Tangier in 1680.6 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.7
